Clay Golems & "Cursed Wounds"

Wounds inflicted by the Clay Golem in assorted versions of D&D don't heal naturally & resist curative magic. And the Clay Golem in the M&M book has Incurable for its damage.

Where did this idea come from? I don't recall hearing of it in the legends of the Golem of Prague, though I do know D&D's creators took inspiration from, well, everywhere. Does anyone know a specific source?

It is a curious ability.

Edit: Though curious abilities are sometimes tied to golems.

I'll do some research when I get home, but how about the other curious abilities from the original AD&D golems:

Clay golem: haste
Stone golem: slow
Iron golem: poisonous breath
