Cleric and Druid : better than wizard?

I'm not sure PrCs are going to get used in my next game so that doesn't worry me.

and if it does, I have no issues with removing or modifying prcs the see any use.

prcs need permission take permission to choose anyways. not all of them are air to begin with, like shawdow is a bit too good. (3.0) or monk/duelist OI had to make a house rule that you cant have multiple classes give you a stat added to ac.

I'm only certain I'm allowing some of the base classes for sure, so prcs dont worry me.

Clerics get the best ability to problem solve, because even if Wizards get more and better spells on their list, a Cleric can have whatever he needs in 24 hours, while a Wizard can only learn so many spells (unless they get amazing down time).
See, that, along with their combat ability, is what makes clerics so overpowered - there's no limit on the type of spells they can cast. Mages are limited by what they know, and druids have a pretty focused list to start with, but clerics don't have any such restriction.

a) While they're both good casters, Wizard is at least slightly better
Agreed.

b) Ultimately, casting matters above all else; if HD and such were anywhere near as important, Fighter wouldn't be considered so underpowered by comparison, now would he?
It doesn't matter above all else, but it is important. Clerics' combat ability is what puts them over the top in overall power vs. wizards.

c) As long as you allow the existing casting PrC's to exist, nerfing one of the primary casting class's base features only will drive players to the prestige classes even more.
That and the fact that the base classes have no features to start with, which gives the player no option BUT to go PrCing.

and AOE spells don't really balance it out, because not all wizards take all the same spells. Not all wizards are focused on direct damage.
Of course not. I've seen some very creative uses for non-direct-damage spells, though. A wizard played by an intelligent player, no matter his spell selection, can shine in just about any circumstances (read: unless the DM's stacked the deck against him).

prcs need permission take permission to choose anyways. not all of them are air to begin with, like shawdow is a bit too good.
Smart man. If you're interested, take a look at some of the PrCs I've rewritten - I've got the Duelist, Horizon Walker, and Shadowdancer up there.

by the way. shawdow is half-asleep talk for shadow dancer :P

ill take a look at those PrCs.

I still think the cleric is overpowered, as mentioined above.

I proposed 2 fixes, which would break the cleric into 2 classes, the cleric, and the priest. the idea for the cleric change didn't come from me though.

No :):):):)! that's you? I use a bunch of your houserules!

I love your aerial combat, and new rules for encumberance and armor!

when I get time I'll put my mechanics online in a webpage. It's a big alternate character creation thing. Alot of the things where the class gives the main bonus and your stats a small bonus are now the other way around. skill points per level for example is will bonus+int bonus + class bonus. the class bonuses are scaled down with a table. and CHA has more of a use, because it becomes the stat for Will saves. its your force of personality, and it wasnt seeing use for any other mechanics, so it made sense.
