Cleric PrC

First Post
I am looking for some interesting Prestige classes for a cleric based in the forgotten Realms. He will be part of a Thane group of mages and we are looking at level limit of 7th level. I do not have all the book but If I know where to look I could start putting this together. Over all it is hard to locate good prestige classes for clerics, the few I have seen have been pretty unimpressive, but I could be looking in the wrong places.

I find for the forgotten realms Cleric PrC's are really deity specific.

I play a Doomguide of Kelemvor who uses Divine Metamagic, Quicken Spell, and Extra Turning feats in conjunction with divine favor, divine power, righteous might as a very effective melee character.

But just a suggestion.

Or maybe you just want too much?

Or you are looking for something specific and that just doesn't exist?

What kind of character is your cleric, i.e. which patron deity, alignment, more of a fighter or caster or both?

Or do you want to base the character on a PrC you like (if you can find one, that is)?

or maybe you can stop posting smart remarks...

At least my "smart remark" is on topic. :p

Besides, the part you quoted (altho, I left out the rather longish explanation as to why cleric PrC often seem to be of little benefit to clerics when comparing with other classes PrC options, especially wizards) isn't a smart remark at all.

Without knowing anything about what you want to do with the character its difficult to recomend anything.

Morninglord of Lathander in PGtF is everything a normal cleric is with a few nice extras thrown in.

At http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/we/20040522a you can download the web enhancement for Complete Divine, and the Dweomerkeeper is very good imo (though the DM will most likely house rule the 'supernatural spell' class feature for spells with XP or very expensive material components), though you most likely will need to take a level of wizard to help with the entry req. Are you prepared to sacrafice even a single level of spellcasting?

In truth I am not looking for something too much, but I do see your point. I am very big on rolplaying and trying to find something that will fit into a misfit party that does not get a long very well. Some one pointed me to the Faiths and Pantheons book. Because of the Thayian influence, I felt I should stay with a religion that would fit the thayian mages. I do not want the party to become an evil party, for evil parties in all my years, never seem to work. SO I settled on the Kossuth faith and looking at it from the,"you have to burn some times to allow things to grow." I found the Elemental Archon, but I think it needs a redesign to fit into the 3.5 setting. In comparison of the Stromlord of the FaP and the Stormlord in the Complete Divine, there are some major changes that have been made between the two books. If I were to stay the Elemental Archon, what would you do to up date it.

Thanks

Unless you have a specific character design that you want to fill, I don't think a PrC is necessary, especially at such a low level.

I'm not well versed in FR stuff, but it seems to be like a simple cleric of Boccob with the Magic and Knowledge domains would be both useful and powerful. If you want to help absorb damage (due to the large number of mages with crappy hit points) take Augment Summoning as a feat, and conjure up some buddies. If you eventually decide that the summoning is worth more than your physical presence at the front line of battle, take levels in Contemplative (Complete Divine, lvl 10 minimum) and the Summoning bonus domain.
