Indeed.

Now the real question is, was I the only one that thought that Jersey Girl wasn't a terrible movie?

Also, according to something I read, Kevin Smith is making the movie in part because Jason Mewes is out of his detox program.

I thought it was great.

WAHOO! I hope he does do this, and it's not like doing another clerks will take that much time or money. Depending on the outcome with the sequel he may go back and try another movie more along the lines of Jay and Silent Bob &
Dogma and not Jersey Girl.

You are far far from being the only one who had hurt sides after this one. :D

I've really enjoyed all his movies, including both Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back and Jersey Girl.

J&SBSB was the natural evolution of Mallrats, so I fail to understand anyone who claims to love Mallrats but is left cold by J&SBSB.

Jersey Girl was marketed just plain wrong. The only scene of that movie I saw in every commercial was Liv Tyler in the shower. Probably the most non-representative scene they could have chosen. They had no idea who the market was for that movie, so they figured they could wave a pretty girl in front of the world and see who bit.

Sometimes, evolution takes a wrong turn, and the species goes extinct :) Going farther downt eh same road does not necessarily take you to a good place.

Plus, there's more than evolution to be considered. J&SBSB simply had less interesting writing, less funny jokes. Overall, it was simply lower quality.

my take on Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back:

the first 20 or so minutes was great. the opening scene was priceless and then Jay and Bob go talk to a bunch of characters from the first 4 movies before setting off on their journey.

the last 5 minutes were fun too, as we get to see more of the characters from the first 4 movies.

you can argue that the scene with mark hammill was also fun.

but everything else in the middle (mostly the entire plot involving the monkey and the girl jewel thieves) was AWFUL. the only part of the middle of the movie that was even remotely funny was that Wil Ferrell's name was Marshall Willenholly.

as for what i think of this? i still havent seen jersey girl (not out on dvd yet, and thats the exact type of movie i dont go see in a theatre) so i dont know how good or bad it is. i wouldve liked to see smiths take on a superhero movie since when he remembers to release one of the comics he's writing its usually pretty good. But I'd also love to see a Clerks 2 and Chasing Amy 2.
(my two favorites)

So what if this is the biggest wuss move in the history of film-making ,he's our wuss.

I disagree, obviously. IMO, J&SBSB was simply more over the top. But I think that worked for the characters. It wasn't Chasing Amy or Dogma (both superior movies), but it wasn't supposed to be. My feeling is that the only thing it actually lacked was sufficient screen time for Jason Lee.

And the scene with Jay and Silent Bob going to the homes of people who made fun of them on the internet was worth the price of admission by itself.
