[closed] 3.5 or CODA Tolkien inspired anyone?

I'm interested in seeing how you work a Dwarven Druid into a Tolkien-style campaign. :)

Well, I wouldn't discount a dwarven druid. Although the game will be heavily Tolkien inspired (I am contemplating using the maps from the Decipher set) I can see flexible characters. Hopefully this will be an alternate Middle-Earth, maybe a bit more savage and dark. If the plan goes well, everyone will be helping create a unique world.

Sounds like Midnight ;) :D (It's by far the best campaign setting I've seen for d20.) And no problem on the links.

I have heard about Midnight although I haven't picked it up. I am picking up a lot of inspiration from Tolkien's books that support the Silmarillion and the roots of Middle-Earth, although I am tossing in other elements. Some recognizable, some maybe a bit obscure.

That's five people so far, with what seems like a decidedly 3.5 slant.

Any word on character creation guidelines, hellbender? I may revive the noble, but I might actually go in a completly different direction... depends on what I want to experiment with in 3.5, and what other players are interested in playing.

Hell....the only reason I'd like to try a dwarven druid is because it sounds like an interesting concept.
I like the idea of a darker aspect on the whole Middle Earth type of game.
Perhaps going with the concept (tried and true) of fallen dwarven stronghold, survivors fleeing, somehow winding up being saved by Druid (elven? human? not sure yet), learning to use nature against enemies all that type of stuff.
Not that I'm against a good old Dwarven fighter with an axe....those are always Fun! Aye Lad!:D
DEFINITLY interested in seeing in those creation guidlines hellbender.

OH and Garyh, checked out that thread...who knows may see ya'll there.

I would be interested in finally getting to play a Dunedain of the North, Ranger. Here's wishing this campaign lots of luck, it seems that Middle Earth and Night Below have a curse to overcome. I've never seen either one, go to completion.

garyh: I will post character creation rules within a day or so. I am still tethering on starting at first, or going for a third or fourth level start. I am thinking third, all classes (clerics being disciples as per the hosted site, not sure about paladins yet). More than likely the races will be set at elf, human, hobbit and dwarf, but as I am not going canon all the way, I might allow a gnome as well, maybe as a lost tribe or fey touched dwarfs.

rangerjohn: Thank you for wishing the campaign luck. While I might believe in curses, I also believe that these things can be overcome. I am going to give it my best shot.

ferretguy: I like the background concept for your dwarven druid. Nothing wrong with that.

If the character creation rules at third level sound good, how does everyone feel about that?
