So in regards to the last champion in each arena - perhaps we should use the Tournement rules on preventing draws? or at least make an announcement that So-N-So is the last champion, so we dont get a draw by accident.

LN was definatly a letdown ... any chance for a rematch?

If you look at post #285, there are rules to avoid anti-climaxes, but they are only for the CR 21 generals. Neutral has only one general, which represents its survival in the BoAA. It chose not to risk losing its general in the Mechanus arena, and the great wyrm is only CR 19, so it had to honor the draw.

Lawful Neutral needs more creatures to take on Chaotic Neutral (most likely), so it couldn't afford to throw a dozen monsters at the great wyrm to avoid an anti-climax. Next time it won't be so lucky - a general is guaranteed to go down in the quarterfinal round.

Wait -- Neutral chooses which faction is so unlucky enough to get to fight the general? I didn't think any faction would have to fight the general, otherwise it's not really fair for the other factions, is it?

If Neutral beats an alignment in the first round without using the general, it will save the general for the quarterfinal round. But if its utter survival is at stake, it will need to throw out the general in the first round to save itself.

Right now the most likely candidate to fight the general in the first round is Neutral Evil, but I'm willing to arbitrarily assign the general to Chaotic Evil, which has the most monsters.

There's an interesting (I think) draw-forcing movement tactic on display in the Elysium Arena, if anyone is interested.

Perhaps it'd be best if rules discussions following from that happened here.

Well, it does make sense that a faster creature will be able to outrun a slower creature. I think you have your equation backwards, btw, shouldn't it be 2M+5? On the other hand, I think there were rules about flying at 1ft (or similar height) above ground and that it does not mean you could just direction instantly (maybe Draconomicon has more on it). In any case, as long as the chaser's movement is high enough, he can pick one direction and try to cut off the victim. Remember that the victim must pre-choose a location and the condition (not plural) upon which to move. There might be a way to guess where he flees and cut him off.

Another, interesting case occurred in Arborea. As long as creatures get out of the area before the Thunderbird's initiative, they can ignore the sandstorm (control winds) with relative impunity. In other words, the Neutral will never enter the arena on the Thunderbird's initiative (obviously), so they'll never be affected by the hurricane force winds. They move and fly up and there good to go with never a saving throw needed versus the wind.

Not every flier can go from a zero foot elevation to a forty foot elevation in one round, especially while flying against the wind.

What?? "creatures caught in the area must make a fort save or face effects depending on the creatures size."

The Thunderbirds initiative # should come up each round, why are neutrals not affected? I assumed it was subject to SR or something, as the crab is still take damage every round, the rillmari should check to see if it is blown away each round. Whats the reasoning to avoid this?
