CN archetypes

Hussar

Legend
This was inspired by another thread that went bye bye in the recent crash. Discussing the difference between Lawful and Chaotic, although sidetracked a bit, did have some interesting ideas. Thinking about it, there are numerous archetypes one could come up with for Chaotic Good (Wolverine, Dr. McCoy) and Chaotic Evil (Darth Vader) but there are not so many archetypes from literature or movies or TV, that I can think of, for Chaotic Neutral. Here's a few. What would you add?

Chaotic Neutral Archetypal Characters

Q - From Star Trek TNG (and others) - Entirely self absorbed. Not particularly cruel, but, certainly not interested in anything other than himself.

Kevin - From Zorgonia - Only interested in a good time and taking what he can get. Again, not out to hurt anyone or lord over anyone, but certainly not out to save the world either.

Red Mage - From 8-Bit Theater - Classic mad scientist type through meta-gaming. (not a great fit, but, I'm stretching here.)

Yeagar -From Nodwick - (Hrm, lots of cartoon characters) Pretty much the same as Kevin.

Spawn - I'm stretching here because I haven't read that many of the comic books, but I did watch the HBO animated series - he's definitely not good, loner, he will help people, but, only really if he's forced into it.

Help!

I'd agree early Han Solo, but I'd say the change comes well before the carbonite. Turning the Falcon around to aid in the battle against the Death Star, after he was free and clear with his money, was not a CN act.

Howard Hughes

I think you're on the money with this one.

I've met and worked with many successful entrepeneurial businessmen and CN seems to be the best way to sum them up. Semi-random decisions but combined with inordinate levels of luck. Of course, such men are usually only one deal away from oblivion.

From what I've read about Howard Hughes in one of his biographies (and, of course, seen on The Aviator), he was very much like this.
