CN vs. N: Chaotic Neutral Victorious!

All of the previous misses were from pathetic attack rolls!

Round 70: Rat misses, snake hits for 1. Rat is disabled but not poisoned. Snake takes 2 from the heat and has 7 hp left.

Round 71: Rat spits for 4 and drops. Snake has 3 hp left.

The snake retreats from the heat and smoke, moving to 60N40E.

Next up for CN: a githzerai (Expanded Psionics Handbook)

The githzerai goes first in round 72. PJSlavner will be conducting the combat with you.

Can we use the githzerai out of the MM? Assuming that's acceptable or that they are equivalent...

A tall, gaunt humanoid with yellow-green skin and gray eyes steps into the arena at 0N0E. The assembled crowd from Limbo gives a mighty cheer as one of their own finally steps into gladiatorial combat.

For the benefit of the crowd, he speaks, with the universal translators automatically converting the githzerai speech into whatever the listener can understand. "This fight shall be swift and merciless as I seek revenge for my ashy comrade. My name is githInfiniti-san, Viper Slayer."

gIs then fires his readied composite longbow at the snake.

OOC: I assume that the inertial armor is activated all the time, but if not his first action would be to activate the armor.

His inertial armor is not activated. Earlier, I E-mailed you the difference between the MM and EPH githzerai. OK. gIs concentrates, with no visible effect.

The snake runs to 5N5E. Your move, gIs.

"A running snake? Impressive. Most impressive."

Not wanting to provoke an AoO, gIs takes a 5ft-step to the north, drops the bow (or shifts it to his off-hand if you rule that is a free action), draws out his shortsword and attacks.

OOC: I'm going to go with the FAQ ruling that shifting objects from hand to hand is a move action. That should make things interesting for cleric-types with shields later on.

Your sword thrust skewers the snake (rolled 17) for 6 points of damage. The snake is at -3 HP and dying.

A small, rocky humanoid with red, glowing hands and feet comes into the arena at 5N115E Its eyes are glowing red embers and its mouth is a gaping maw of flame.

It runs surprisingly well, considering its rocky form, and ends up right next to gIs at 5N5E.

gIs mutters, "I see I will have little time in preparing for new combatants. At least I can take advantage of this imbecile running up to me."

Step to the northeast 10N5E, still not wanting to provoke an attack and wanting to be more careful with a potentially more dangerous opponent, attack him defensively with my shortsword. I'm hoping that his running will make him easier to hit, but rocky creatures (and dwarves) rarely are dextrous. :\

You miss completely (rolled 10-4=6 for fighting defensively). Flaming rock man is just as effective on its attack (rolled 10). Go ahead, gIs.

Finally having stepped out of the corner, gIs takes a step backward out of harm's reach to the north 15N5E and drops a concussive blast on flaming rock-man. In the immortal words of Ash the ash rat, "Give me some sugar, baby."

Damn, my bow sure is a long way away.

Flaming rock-man gets pummeled for 1 point of damage (OK, it gets dinked, not pummeled) and has 10HP left. Flaming rock-man, not sufficiently angered, misses badly (rolled 11) after its 5-foot step to 10N5E.
