Follow in gaseous form, change back to corporeal form and bite again. If Vick gets hit again and survives, he will fight to a draw, either staying in gaseous form or withdrawing underground. Otherwise, he will continue these tactics of moving and changing back and forth from gaseous form. Time compression?

Round 55

P Dusky misses AoO. Vick hits for 1, P hits for 4. P has 7 hp, Vick has 1 hp.

A draw is declared after round 60.

Next up for CN: an ash rat! (MM II)

The ash rat goes first in round 61.

A two-foot-long black rat enters the arena from the west, hustling across the field of battle looking for prey. It's orange eyes are barely visible from the cloud of sooty smoke that seemingly hides the rat from view. It's oversized yellow teeth chatter incessantly, as the rat waits for it's foe. Ash's chattering could be translated roughly as, "Groovy."

Not comfortable being out in the open, Ash moves to 0N40E and readies to spit flame at any foe approaching close enough (within 10ft).

Round 61

The ash rat is at 0N35E.

A small pile of dirty, tattered rags charges to 0N40E. The rat spits flame. Hits! (Rolled 19 touch) 4 points of damage! The rags have 11 hp left.

The rat dodges the rags! (Rolled 11+2 for charge = 13)

Ash continues to spit flames at the pile of dirty rags. It's not dinner, but it's bad, baby! He continues chittering, "All right, who wants some?! Who's next!?"

OOC: Like PJSlavner, an advanced degree in comp sci doesn't help me remember the 0-based grid. *slaps head* Anyway, Ash's tactics are quite limited, so Time Compression would be okay. Just don't forget the concealment and Heat. ;)

Round 62

The rat spits again. The rags would like to take an AoO, but they can't discern the rat in its smoky haze.

The rags dodge the flame! (Rolled 12) The rags miss as well.

Round 63: Both miss.

Round 64: Rat hits for 2, rags miss. Rags have 9 hp left.

Round 65: Both miss.

Round 66: Rat hits for 2, rags miss. Rags have 7 hp left.

Round 67: Rat hits for 2, rags miss. Rags have 5 hp left.

Round 68: Rat misses, rags hits for 4! Rags take 2 from heat and catches on fire! Rags take another 6 from the fire and are defeated! The rat has 1 hp left.

A medium viper snake slithers to 60N80E.

Supernatural abilities don't provoke AoO, so I'm glad that worked out anyway due to the concealment. :)

Ash glares at his new opponent and chitters in irritated rat-speak, "Come get some, baby." Ash wonders why the viper entered so far north, but then realizes he does not have the intelligence to wonder any such thing and instead* charges to 55N75E and bites the viper. Hoping he survives the counterattack (his concealment should help), he continues the remainder of the combat via flame spitting.

* I assume Ash is not smart enough (or this cannot be done) to spit flame at himself for healing purposes. If he can, then that is what he would do first and once healed, he would then move and spit flame at the viper or charge, whichever is possible.

Round 69

You're right, I thought the spit was an Ex ability, but in any event I don't think the rat is clever enough to heal itself that way.

The rat misses! (Rolled 9+2 for charge = 11)

The snake, apparently blind or stupid in the previous round, is shocked by the rat's attack and responds pathetically! (Rolled natural 1)

Okay, Ash spits flame for the remainder of the fight, by far his best attack maneuver. "Gimme back my hand!"

Time compress? Btw, it'd be nice if you specify whether the opponent misses due to attack rolls or concealment. Go Ash! :)
