CN vs. N: Chaotic Neutral Victorious!

OOC: OK, read post #470 over again and I think you will agree she's dying. :( Don't worry, the medics will take care of poor Sandy when she teleports out of the arena.

Next up for CN: a howling dragon wyrmling. (Draconomicon)

It goes first in round 457. The bat is in the cloud at 55N60E10Z and has 68 hp left.

PJSlavner will take over from here.

The howling dragon has the following feats: Alertness, Blind-fight, Heighten Breath, and Wingover.

It has the following maxed-out skills: Knowledge (Arcana, Dungeoneering, Geography, and History), Listen, Search, Sense Motive, Spot, Use Magic Device

A long, thin dragon with mottled violet and black coloring flies awkwardly into the arena. Although he's only a baby, Howie the howling dragon is the size of a large man with wings. Having watched the previous battle with his remotely related kin, Howie I enters at 20N0E and approaches the cloud from roughly the southwest at a height of 20 feet. At the moment Howie blindsenses the bat and he gets to within thirty feet, he will howl a heightened crazy cone of sonic energy.

OOC: Current position will be 40N50E20Z heading northeast. He will heighten the breath weapon by +2.

OOC2: So, what does knowledge (history) tell Howie about the arena? :)

OOC2 Answer: That it has been around since February, 2005.

Round 457: The bat gets hit by the full force of the sound (rolled 17 Ref save, missing because of the +2 heightened breath), taking 12 points of damage. The bat has 56 HP remaining. Howie can breathe again in round 463.
The bat flies to 40N55E10Z and bites Howie for 18 points of damage. The cloud disperses. Howie has 58 HP remaining. The bat is trembling slightly.

OOC: The cloud disperses? Already? I thought they were gonna last something like 500 rounds. Oh yeah, I knew you were going to roll a 4 on the recharge time anyway. :)

Howie takes a 5ft-step (flying) to 45N55E15Z and makes a full round of attacks on Batty. He will then plummet 15ft to the ground due to the fact that he does not maintain minimum forward movement and stalls.

OOC: I figure turning is not a free action, but he's not turning. He's also above Batty when he falls and will fall into/past Batty (whether that does anything to Batty I don't know, nor really care) and provoke an AoO unless he kills Batty first.

OOC Oops. The cloud does not disperse. I meant the cloud of debris blown up by the hovering bat.

Round 458: Howie misses with all five attacks (best roll was 19). Howie does not fall far enough when it hits the bat for either to be damaged. The bat bites Howie after Howie slides off (rolled 21-2=19 for shaken), inflicting 15 points of damage. Howie takes 6 points of damage from the fall off of the bat, leaving Howie with 37 HP, and at 45N55E10Z and prone.
The bat bites Howie again for 16 points of damage. Howies has 21 HP remaining.

The CN crowd boos loudly, very loudly. "You give dragons a bad name!" "Howie, you suck!"

Howie turns a shade of red and goes on total defense and 'stands' up (not being able to reach Batty on the ground nor take a 5ft-step up without hover).

OOC: I assume you mean that Howie is at 0Z. I don't want to have the same misunderstanding as with the my previous, failed combatant. :)

OOC2: We had this discussion earlier about whether any Large (or larger) creature that hovers throws up dust or whether you need to have the Hover feat. I thought we came to the conclusion that you need to have the Hover feat and not just Good/Perfect maneuverability. Of course, not having the MMII I don't know if Batty has Hover or just Good maneuverability. Also of course, it doesn't matter for Howie or Sandy.

OOC3: Do you think you guys can roll slightly above average at least once for my dragons? "Sandy misses five times! (18 highest roll)" "Howie misses with all five attacks (best roll was 19)." Sheesh! :p

OOC: Yes, Howie is at 0Z.
OOC2: The bat does not have the Hover feat, so there will be no cloud of dust.
OOC2: Quit yer bellyachin'! I rolled above average for when you get to breathe next, didn't I? :)

Round 459: The bat drops down 5 feet to 40N55E5Z so that it can see Howie better, and misses (rolled 17-2 (sickened)+1 (higher ground) =16).

You forgot the AoO on Howie for standing up. If he survived, then he takes a full round of attacks on the now-in-range Batty. This time, I want to see some crits! :heh:
