CN vs. N: Chaotic Neutral Victorious!

Engineering and architecture? Nice. "Shape of . . . an ice bridge!" *gleep*

Phoebe the phasm glops into the arena to 60N25E (I assume she cannot assume a different form outside the arena). She then takes the form of . . . assuming my only choices are monsters previously seen in the Limbo arena . . . searching . . . searching . . . a juvenile fang dragon.

Round 607: A four-winged bird with a long neck and tail and iridescent blue scales flies into the arena, seemingly without any effort, to 60N65E10Z. It fires a crackling blue ray at Phoebe, hitting (rolled natural 20 ranged touch, 23 to confirm critical) for 8 points of electrical damage. Phoebe has 104 HP remaining, and is first in round 608.

Round 608: Phoebe chomps the bird (rolled 22) for 10 points of damage. The bird has 102 HP remaining.
The bird bites back (rolled 26) for 14 points of damage and takes a 5-foot step back to 60N70E15Z. Phoebe has 90 HP remaining (15 due to the change in Constitution in dragon form).

(I just realized that polymorph does not change HP, even if Constitution score changes).

There is a huge debate about that, which subsided when WotC hinted that the hp do change. (I forget how or when.) Anyway, I would allow hp change due to Con change with polymorph. It is easier to keep track if or when Phoebe changes to something else.

Phoebe takes a 5ft-step forward and upward and makes a full round of grapple attempts. One way or another she's plummeting 10ft to the ground at 60N60E when she doesn't maintain the movement. Hopefully, it will be with a mouth full of bird.

OOC: Did you allow the trip as an extraordinary attack?

OOC: No, because fang dragons can only trip with a claw or tail attack. I did apply increased damage as an extraordinary attack.
Because you have to move into the other creature's space to start a grapple, you only get one grapple attempt (you have to move more than 5 feet).

Round 609: The bird's AoO hits (rolled 37) for 14 points of damage, so the grapple attempt is rebuffed. Phoebe takes 4 points of damage from the sudden stop at 60N60E. Phoebe has 72 HP remaining.
The bird hovers up to 60N60E40Z and misses with its electric ray (natural 1).

OOC: Oh, I thought I remembered the trip being on the bite. No problem then. I disagree with the grapple limitation though. You don't actually move until Step 4. Note that what I'm arguing for is actually really bad for Phoebe because she doesn't know that the birdie has combat reflexes, too.

Unless the arrowhawk kills her on the other two attacks of opportunity, if you let them even occur, Phoebe shapeshifts into a sand dragon and burrows underneath the ground for a draw. She has no hope of beating this thing while in the air.
