Cobat magic in Conan d20?

From what I've heard there is little to no combat spells in Conan D20 if no why? If yes how does combat magic workmis it like fireballs or something different. Oh and what dice does a scholar use for HP?

Magic is comparatively rare in Hyboria. It is a difficult matter for sorcerers to draw on supernatural forces. Hence spells of any kind are not common. The reason for this is simple -- the game is based on the works of R.E. Howard. In his 'Conan' stories, magic was not common, and sorcerers did not walk around zapping people with magic missiles. The game's magic system reflects this fact -- as well as the fact that most sorcerers were rather vile individuals (sacrificing humans for more power, taking black lotus, etc.).

conan allso shared some beasts with lovecrafts world, so often a magican was calling on powers that came from said entitys. not a good idea in the long run...

There are no spells* akin to the evocation attack spells (fire ball, magic missle, etc). However, there are some spells that are similar to enchantment, necromancy, or conjuration spells.

For example, there is one spell "Entrance" that can paralyze a foe as long as you keep eye contact. Not bad, especially when your pirate buddy can coup-de-grace as a free action! Oh, and the spell costs zero power points to cast, meaning you can cast one every round of every combat - at least until your foes try to avoid eye contact!

Scholars use a d6 for HP, and a 3/4 BAB progression. However, their weapon and armor proficienies are seriously lacking.

*Also, a scholar can release an eldritch blast with 10' of him that drains him of all magic power but inflicts a d6 hp damage/power point. Kind of like your own personal retributive strike.

The supplement Conan: The Free Companies has some combat-related spells, but you still will not find anything like spells in DnD. In The Hour of the Dragon, Xaltotun collapsed a cliff wall on an army - that is how magic works in Conan the Roleplaying Game.
