I'm starting a new CoC campaign this friday, and I have a couple of ideas floating around. Some the players have made there characters, I have technition/hacker who is paranoid that someone wants him dead, and an ex-soldier, but now private eye who believs aliens exist. Anyway the PI is a brilliant adventure hook, so what I have at the moment is;
1) Someone asks the PI to find there missing daughter, only to find that she killed ritually by cultists.
2)Someone comes in supecting there spouse of cheating him/her because of strange behaviour. Only to find out that he/she is infact a cultist.
3)Sort of like the plot to the ninth gate. Have some book colector ask the PI to track down some rare book, only to have it that the book is cthulhu mythos book. Then have cultists involved in wanting the book, plus the collector wants it for his own dark ends. There would also be soem red hering books, or you have to construct the book or something.
