CoC D20 - electonic copy

First Post
Greetings all,

I was wondering if anyone knew of a site where I could purchase the D20 CoC in PDF.

I know there are illegal copies floating around, but when I went to purchase it, I couldn't find it anywhere.

Does it just not exist or am i not looking in the right place?

Any help would be appreciated...

Pretty sure you are out of luck. I just checked Drive Thru RPG , which is the one place that I would think that any WotC book would be in pdf, to make sureand they don't have it. My understanding of the agreement (or lack thereof) between WotC and Chaosium was that after the initial print run Chaosium withdrew the rights. Therefore there will never be any other edition, electronic or otherwise.

CoCd20 is a great book, but goes for a lot on e-bay. If you are desperate for d20 CoC rules just grab the OGL sanity rules and d20 Modern, or Grim Tales.

90% of what was in the Call of Cthulhu book is available in other books.

* The insanity rules are available here: http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/campaigns/sanity.htm

* The spells were all adapted to the Book of Vile Darkness almost verbatim, sans stat drains.

* DNDChick's page has conversions of all the monsters: http://members.aol.com/CountryGrrlHere/cofcd20.html. DNDChick didn't agree with most of how Cthulhu monsters were statted up. After using them for some time in my D&D campaign, I have to agree with her -- use DNDChick's stuff, it's better than what's in the book.

* That leaves the Cthulhu gods. Try this older page for their statistics: http://www.angelfire.com/extreme/kengage/cthulhu/cthulhu.html

* Weapons, armor, equipment you can get from D20 Modern: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=d20/article/msrd

You now have your very own Cthulhu book and do not need to spend any more time tracking it down. :)

(there are, of course, priceless chapters on role-playing, game mastering horror, etc. but in my experience most folks are looking for the stats).

And the chargen rules are incorporated in this page.

It should be stressed that the game advice is golden. Put this book next to Nightmares of Mine or GURPS Horror 3rd and you don't need any others.

Thanks all for the responses. It is appreciated.

I own CoC D20 in print. I wanted the electronic version to make some handouts for my players.

Must be a rights issue that is keeping this from being purchased electronically. Shame.

Hey Talien - Keep on making products. I love your stuff. Frost and fur is used often in my game!

Awww, thanks! I have a product that's going to be converted to 4th Edition coming out from Necromancer Games.

And supposedly Combat Missions was publish by Paradigm Concepts at Gen Con this year, but I've never actually seen it.

Heh, I hate looking at the price of OoP books on the internet. I went looking for a book from my childhood, my mom bought it remaindered. It was going for $1,200 at auction. I have to admit that I would not have paid that much, but if I still had the book I would not sell it for that either, I'd still keep it.

Of course, if I still had it I wouldn't know how much it sold for either....

CoC D20 is well written, I wouldn't sell my copy for $40, I'll tell you that much. :)

Honestly I don't think the copyright gremlins are gonna steal your firstborn if you download a copy of something you already own in print, and which is not legally available electronically. I would never condone such a thing however.

Nice list, ,I will compare it to the book, tonight. Thanks...

The CoC d20 book is hard to find in the Virginia Beach, Virginia for cheap. The bookstores tend to charge a little above full price for copies. My group found a second book at a yard sale on the other hand. So, the best option for a hardback version true to the WoTC campaign is online auctions from the sounds of all the posts, here.
