[CoC] Sick-n-Twisted (Fresh Meat)

Tanya is angry... very very angry... It's one thing to not be respected for your gender, it's one thing to put up with nasty comments from your coworkers... but did they have to give her all of the hard cases? The cases where people just disappear without a trace? Murder scenes with no blood... or fingerprints... It was enough to make her want to scream. And then there was her partner deciding to take a permanent vacation... Where was he anyways? Last time she talked to him he said something about checking out a church after hours... Whatever, he was a prick... but she had to focus... This guy she was looking for was good... best she'd ever seen and one of the best on record, it almost seamed like he could steal anything he wanted... anywhere... and of course he left no trace. Why else would she get the case right? Damn chauvinistic pigs, she needed a new job.

Tanya shakes her hair out of her face and scans the room, she decides to start off near the entrance and start asking questions. Work her way down the line and keep an eye out for someone making a quick exit, maybe intercept them.

This shady bar was as good a place to start as any other shady bar... She aproachs a man on a stool, with his eyes stuck in his beer, "Excuse me sir, but what are you drinking?"

Bruder returns from the bar with four beers. Plonking them down he slides himself into the booth opppsite Jim with a quiet sigh. Grabbing one of the beers, he tips his head back and necks it. With another sigh he sets it back down and takes another.

"Well, I've no idea what all that was about."

"That guy, they just stabbed him or something. But then the gimp called him by name and went to tend to him? I've got no clue what was going on, but it didn't seem like a murder... something else."

He looks up as the cop enters the bar and momentarily wavers. Then he starts checking her out. Jim's been a very naughty boy. He deserves to be handcuffed. He NEEDS to be handcuffed! he thinks to himself. Am I just crazy enough to go hit on her? Yes, he decides, grabbing two beers. "I'll be back in a minute" he says to Bruder.

"You look like you could use a drink," he says, sitting down at another stool at the bar near Tanya, offering her a beer.

OOC: I thought that I would never post this: lol

IC: "Jeez jim ..."

We need to find out what's going on. Is anything going on? Perhaps I'm just losing it. But Jim saw the same things I did. How do you find out about this kinda stuff?

Bruder glances involutarily in the direction of the payphone, with the big Yellow Pages chained to the shelf beneath.

Hah! Like that would be of any real use.

Bruder leans back in the booth and closes his eyes, letting the sounds of the bar wash over him.

I really should find out what the gimp was talking to Jack about ... check my mail ... and call mum ... Bo**ocks. Its all just a load of ... but its not really, I saw what I saw in the church. ... OK, start with Jack.

Bruder slides out of the booth and crosses over to the other end of the bar from where Jim is trying to get lucky.

Keeping his voice under the general noise of the conversation, Bruder asks, "Hey Jack, the guy with the hood and the limp who was in here earlier. Wad he want?"

Oh wonderful she thinks, Just what I need, some drooling bar-hopper wants a piece of me. Well, maybe I can use it to my advantage...

Tanya turns from the man at the bar and flashes Jim her best attempt at a smile, "Sure thing, you aren't exactly my type but a few beers may loosen me up..." Tanya's smile cracks as she trys to cover up a sudden urge to vomit by chugging back half the beer and almost gagging on it for her trouble.

God... it's not worth it

"You must be thirsty, after a hard days work chasing down criminal scum and such," Jim replies, lauging inwardly to himself. "Though it puzzles me that a lovely officer of the peace such as yourself would brave this terrible weather simply to grab a drink among the dregs of the earth in place like this. This bar has the reputation of being a second home to many scoundrels, or so the rumor goes," he says, now looking carefully at her reaction.

What's her game? he wonders to himself, becoming suspicious.

EDIT: typo

Wow... been a while since college, I used to be the chugging champion she muffles a belch, You know, it's been a while since I just drank myself unconcious and what are they gonna say when she doesn't come back to base tonight. Christ her partner had been missing for a week now and noone seemed to notice. Besides, it's not like she's attracted to this guy... at the very least he may get her a few free drinks before he gives up

Tanya visibly readys herself and downs the rest of her beer and turns to Jim, ignoring Bruder for the moment, "I'll be honest with you, I'm here to track down a burglar, he's a good one too... Never leaves a trace the bastard. Well, at least that's what I came here for but now I've decided to do some drinking, maybe I'll figure it out if I loosen up a bit..." She holds the empty beer in front of Jim and shakes it, "Dead soldier, got any more?"

*Edit, horrible grammar, sorry

"But surely you must be the only burglar here, madam, as you have stolen my heart" Jim quips back suavely, but thinking to himself Dear God! Is she talking about ME? What to do, what to do...

"Let me go ask my friend if he knows anything," he says. Then he pretends to accidentally spill beer all over himself. "Well, there it is, I've gone and made an oaf of myself," he mumbles to Tanya. "Well, I've had a long day anyway, best be going on my way, get myself cleaned up."

"Hey Bruder! I gotta go change. Gimme your keys so I can drive home. I'm gonna check the mail too while I'm there. I'll come back and get you in a little while." He grabs the keys from Bruder and tries to shuffle out of the bar briskly.

As he's driving home, he pulls out his cell and gives Pritchard a call. Maybe he's heard of something like the stuff we've been seeing tonight, or knows someone who does.

Hmmm... very strange, I mention something about a burglar and my new friend goes ballistic...

Tanya turns to Bruder as he hands Jim the jeys and watches queitly as Jim takes off, she gets Bruders attention and says in a stern voice, "Your friend, the one who just left, how long have you known him??"

"I'm not with anybody. I'm here on my own."

I'm not going to talk to with Jack while she is here. Now would be a good time to see the man about the dog.

"Scuse me." Bruder pushes away from the bar and heads towards the mens.

Noticing the phone as he passes, Bruder stops, pulls out some quarters, and dials his mother's number.
