Colossal Constructs?

Sound of Azure

Contemplative Soul
Amongst the bones of the earth, the Heralds have slept for millennia. Now they stir... ready to mark the return of the god-spirits.

Anyway, I had this idea to include non-humanoid collossal sized constructs (powered by spiritual energy) called the Heralds as some of the final encounters should the PCs not prevent their rising beforehand.

I was wondering if there has been any monsters like this in print or pdf already published I could look for? Failing that, any cool ideas to add to the concept?

Thanks in advance! :)

Consider the Kaiju Template (Dragon #....? Um, the OA issue from a few years back) and then make the obvious changes to make them Constructs...? :D

Mecha-Godzilla, anyone? Yes? No... maybe?

:p

Sounds like astral constructs to me. :)

The Immortal's Handbook Bestiary has what you need. Dire/Behemoth/Teratoid/Macrobe templates to increase an existing construct's size, a number of new constructs with stats already up to that size, and even pretty precise rules for making new constructs out of whichever material you'd like.

Furthermore, colossal isn't even the limit. If you wanted, you could go titanic (WotC calls this Colossal+) or theoretically infinitely higher (using metric style prefixes in front of the size names, since with the addition of Titanic there are 10 given size categories).

Play Shadow of the Colossus, for the PS2. All the monsters in the game are enormous constructs. The smallest appears to be about Colossal size, and some of the others are much, much bigger. Each has a unique shape, only a few of which are humanoid.

A colossus is generally invulnerable, except for one or a few specific weak points. Your main weapon is a sword, so in order to attack, you need to physically climb the monster while it's thrashing around and trying to throw you off.

I always thought this would make a pretty sweet D20 adventure. You'd just need to account for magical flight and some other transport magic, to avoid making it too easy.

The smallest of the SotC ones I'd rather say are Huge or Gargantuan at the outside. That's only two of them though. Most of the Colossi in that game are in the macro scale range... I'd guess the 2nd colossus (the cow-like one) is about Macro-Diminutive (Colossal+++), with the final colossus (the tower) being macro-small or macro-medium (Colossal+++++ or Colossal++++++). Most of the others vary somewhere in the middle of that range.

Just guesses though. I can't find any figures for how big people have estimated these things to be...
