Comb.Combat Expertise & Absolute Defence

Hiho,

is it possible to combinate Combat Expertise(for example with a lvl 5 fighter) and Absolute Defense(fight style that increase your AC by 4 i think with loosing all your attacks)?

This gonna push the AC by 9 and by 11 if i have the Tumble skill?

Total Defense is a Standard Action, and Combat Expertise can only be used with the Attack Action or the Full Attack Action, so no.

What you can do is combine Combat Expertise with Fighting Defensively.

We had this issue in my campaign. I thought that I had read somewhere that Fighting Defensively and Expertise (this was back in 3.0) could not be combined, and ruled it that way for a while. Then I came here for verification and found out I was wrong. They can be combined.

Sean K. Reynolds on his site had mentioned that he didn't think they should stack (because he saw them as two versions of the same thing,) which was where I'd gotten the idea from originally.
