Combat flavor Orc

First Post
I'm currently making a Mountain Orc (the MM orc SRD ) I don't really have a good idea of what direction I want to take to dish out a lot of damage but not really be stuck saying nothing but ... I roll to hit.

We're playing through Savaged Tides so little armor is what i'll be most comftorable with. The party consists of an NPC Expert, a player Cleric and a player Scout.

I'm thinking some sort of Fighter or Barb/Fighter

For survivability I really frontloaded my stats toward combat
Str 21 | Dex 14 | Con 14 | Int 10 | Wis 8 | Cha 10

Anyone have any ideas on class combos/weapons for some good damage. Along with some feats to make the character more than a d20 roll.

Warblade, Swordsage and Crusader are all three core classes introduced in Tome of Battle. They are martial oriented classes that are "wushu" in flavor and also do more than just "I roll d20s". Well usually.

:)

It's in the Tome of Battle: Book of Nine Swords.
Clear it with your DM; its balance is arguable at best ( :] ), and the added level of complexity a new rules system impose (Maneuvers) might be more than your DM wants to cope with.
It's a base class, though, to answer your other question.

Gah! Scooped!

Lack,

It's a tad less complex than say Dragon Shaman or Warlock. (Well maybe not Warlock but still...) Besides it does balance well against barbarians (who get rages, uncanny dodges, and trap sense too), while the others get "stances, counters, strikes and such." I honestly think Warblade might exceed fighter but at least it's not half as dull for some.

Warblade is of highly questionable balance (full BAB and the equivalent of 9th level spells, all on a d12) as it's about as powerful as a Druid or tanking Cleric. Easily better than any normal combat class. Still, an Orc Warblade would be danged cool and fun.

If your DM doesn't allow ToB:Bo9S classes then you can't go wrong with a Barbarian. Either bog-standard or the Whirling Frenzy variant found in Unearthed Arcana. Slap on a greataxe and maybe Leap Attack (when you can) and you'll have lots of chances to come flying through the air, plunging your axe into a monster's skull.
Very cool and very orcish.

For variety you could get some Fighter levels to get more feats. Note that you'll be trading skills for feats, so you'll generally be better off sticking with Barbarian.

Val,

I'd point out the fact that all the stances are like 9th level spell, Warblade or no. The point is Warblade is more fun for the class abilities than say fighter. Not sure it's as powerful as druid (wildshaping, especially if you allow Dragon Shape feat or some other Wild feat, plus the whole 'Hey look at all the new spells I got and I don't need to find some moldy tome to get them!") or cleric (do we really need to hash that one out?) but I will agree it can be more powerful than fighter.

Barbarian/fighter has something going for it with Orog/mountain orc. But honestly I'd love to see someone use Warblade with a mountain orc.
