Gneech,

Eh if I want a true fighter/mage, I'd settle for Mageblade. Duskblade is decent but Mageblade = way cooler.

Brim,

Yeah well doesn't mean we can't make other suggestions as per the Gneech. Especially since I think a good fighter/rogue makes for an effective flanker AND a good meleer when/where necessary.

Since the party is lacking any arcane ability, how about a duskblade from PHB2? It's a nice warrior-mage hybrid.

I'm making this character b/c my duskblade was killed in the last session :(

I agree it is a nice hybrid though.

If you want a sweet combo, here's one I've been wanting to try out for awhile (and even fits this thread :p)

Go with Archery Ranger with a couple levels of barbarian. Take feats like extra rage and extend rage, to upp your barbarian quotient.

With this setup, you get all the goodies of a barbarian, and when you fly into a rage, you get the bonus to Str on your bow. You'd have to (or should) switch your Str and Dex scores, since you really need a higher Dexterity, since you're going to be stuck in light armour with this build. However, consider the following:
  • +10 bonus feet.
  • Rage: it ups your damage, but sucks down your AC now that you are an archer, this + damage is still applicable, but your AC doesn't matter (except from missile fire and magic).
  • Amazing skill points, from both classes, and decent skill lists.
  • good HP, so you can still hop into melee with your greatsword if need be ;)
  • The best BAB.
  • The ability to heal via wands of Cure X Wounds, which will help take the pain off the cleric.
  • Good mesh with the Scout. He's even *more* skillsy, but you can slug it out better. It's a decent comprimise.

I realise that this steps on the Scouts area a bit, but honestly, it works. The cleric can focus on buffing himself and becoming the tank, and you can help healing with your wands (which means the cleric can buff himself more, which is good for this). The scout *should* be focusing on trapfinding, and you might suggest he take a level of rogue to be able to find magical traps. All-in-all, this could be an effective (if a bit different) party.

cheers,

Ny,

Some interesting ideas you got there! I favor the Ranger/barb multiclass! :)

Slife,

Nah. Get an animated object that no one would suspect. :)

Particle

yeah but that's a) only three levels and b) what does he do after that?!

Val,

Yeah but maybe he wants to be more archery oriented. Let's face it, rangers (after fighters anyway) are the best archery guys around, feat wise.
