combat plans for a spell thief

okay i got 2 main ideas

1. my spellthief has dust of dissapearnce so he uses that as a free action. next he ever so care fully makes it to the(in this case ) wizard and then as another free action cast a quickend true strike. do my entire steal spell and gain what ever lvl 4 spell i can.

after taking the lvl 4 spell on my next round dispend it. into a feat called arcane strike. and go for another sneak attack. this time forgoing the sneak attack for a arterial strike.

is this a good plan....

my other one deals with the same thing except not forgoing the sneak attack
because that woud do something like
1d4+1 plus the arcane strike would be +4 attack bonus and the 4d4 +3d6
this is a lvl 9 spellthief

How does he manage to use dust of dissappearance as a "free" action insted of the normal "standard" actin required to use magic items?

Quickened spells are "swift" actions not "free" actions and you can only do 1 swift action per round (and then only if you haven't already done an imediate action since your last turn.

well i mean that isn't all in one turn
thats just an over all plan
if dust of dissapearce is a standard action then that works for me



i see. hmm so new idea anyways
what if i went insted and was 3 lvls rouge 3 lvls spellthief then three lvls arcane trickster
that would be something

that way i would get the ability to make one attack a sneak attack
correct or not.

i also looked at it and i am going with a regular potion of invisablity that way it would be free

Arcane trickster allows you to do that 1/day, yes...

For someone new to DnD, are you really sure you want to do this? It seems overly complicated for someone who's still learning the basics.

so insted i would pick sorcerror or bard? which is better?
i am thinking bard...
