Level Up (A5E) Combining with OG spell lists?

Apologies if this has been covered somewhere I missed.

As an experiment, my DM has asked me to rebuild my 5th level Warlock under 5e rules. The biggest issues I've run into (besides the lack of an undead patron) is selecting spells. The spell list for Advanced is limited enough that it significantly changes my build. I could pick spells from it and from the base rules, but I'm worried about whether that would be unbalancing. Has anyone used the combined spell lists, and if so, how well did it work? If you're a DM, how would you want your players to handle this?

I have not had the opportunity to test this yet, but, at least as advertised, there should be no balancing issues. After all, A5e is advertised as completely backwards compatible with O5e and is intended to be at the same power level as O5e. I would recommend using the A5e version of spells that exist in both editions, but that's up to your DM, I guess.

I've said that if anyone one at my table absolutely has to use an OG version of a spell when rebuilding their characters then that spell is the Rare version, made by them and they have to rename it as such.

That'll also have the benefit of making it easy to keep track of which set of rules the spell comes from.
