Comitted actions

So, I was considering how many answers to tactics questions are to ready-an-action, and, as pointed out by others on these boards, the prevalence of that response indicates that there is a problem in the general mechanics.

Has it be proposed to allow actions "out-of-order", similar to immediate actions, but for longer actions?

The idea would be to allow the selection of several actions, for example:

* counterspell
* move (to withdraw, or to leave an area of effect)
* to adopt a defensive stance

The cost would be that that the next action would be *committed* to be the action that was taken.

The effect would necessarily be reduced in effect in comparison to readying an action, and should have a negative consequence for reacting to anything *after* the committed action.

For example, if attacked, you could *commit* to withdrawing as a single move action, which would allow you to gain a +4 defensive bonus to the attack, but would have the consequence, say, that you are flat-footed until your next initiative. You would be allowed an immediate move action that you took out of initiative order, and would loose an initial move action in your subsequent turn.
