Common High-Level Tactics

Time stop -> acid fog -> force-cage -> dimension lock
[nitpick]Assuming you use the solid version you have to cast the dimensional lock before the forcecage or it will block line of effect.[/nitpick]

Cloudkill? Yawn, when did we eat the Heroes Feast? Yep, I'm immune to poison. Damage spells? Am I still wearing the ring of evasion?

Solid fog is at best an annoyance. I'd dispel the dimensional anchor first.

Actually the time stop stuff is forgetting the quickened extra fireball for good measure that you add after the time stop ends. And if you are epic, you took multispell right? Make it two quickened spells after the time stop.

Evard's Black Tentacles: I guess I've never used this because the monster's grapple checks are usually 15-20 points higher than caster level +8. At 30th level, most "monsters' are huge and/or have rediculous strength if they aren't spellcaster types. Maybe that's just how we play. I'll have to sprint EBT on the group next weekend....
If you are messing about with quickened spells then you are hitting them with quickened Disjunction first. Bye bye Heroes Feast and most of the non casters gear.

Solid Fog is significantly more than an annoyance. It removes line of sight and reduces you to a movement rate of 5' per round. If you dont have a means of teleportation then you are pretty much stuck. It becomes less useful as levels increase but even then most of the non casters arent going to be able to teleport about that much.

As far as Evards goes you obviously dont use it on Huge monsters with a massive strength and BaB. You use it on medium sized spellcasters and watch them squirm, especially if they are foolish enough not to have picked up freedom of movement somewhere along the line.

And quickened fireball? Seriously, at epic levels, a quickened fireball?

Nahh...quickened Chain Lightning, followed by a sonic-substituted Meteor Swarm and another quickened Acid Storm...Oh, totally forgot it: Shapechange into a Choker for an extra partial action: Power Word: Kill...

You need: Acm 5/Wiz 18 with Multispell and Improved Spell Capacity as epic feats...

Just a quick note; I just used the reverse gravity / prismatic sphere / dismiss reverse gravity trick in tonight's game! It WOULD have killed the alienist with extra to spare (200 pts dmg, dead, and 6 pts con loss). However, the PC was flying at the time and the NPC led by greater dispelling his Fly spell.

And the PC had a ring he had never used that negates the first dispel magic cast on him. And he remembered having it. And then he grinned ear to ear when he realized it saved his life.

*sniff*... glorious death averted. But it was fun anyways.

In one high-level game I ran, the cleric set up a blade barrier and the wizard conjured an air elemental to throw enemies into it. I believe the phrase "fine red mist" was used to describe the results. Even the players were wincing.

After that, the cleric swore never to use that spell again.

Oh... thats nice. My current caster has BB... and his cohort has TK... might work.

Implosion. Once you reach epic levels and take the Improved Spell Capacity feat that spell can become the bane of everything in sight. Once you start packing metamagic on top it can quickly get out of control.

Circle of Death. Under the same circumstances this can be the mother of all mook killers. I've seen a single Maximized-Empowered-Twinned-Repeated casting of this (though it took an insane number of spell points and he couldn't cast more than a cantrip again that day) kill more than 400HD of mooks.

Wait. I can't believe that your players don't read ENWorld.

...or maybe they just don't understand the meaning of the word "yoink."

What, he didn't have a staff and a selection of wands?

What kind of saves did he have?

After an unlucky roll against a 14th level(FeanMercutio system) epic version of disjunction, only three wands and they weren't very useful under the circumstances. Luckily the Cleric and Ranger rolled better. He blasted through all but a few of his remaining spell points to clear a way through the horde for them to attack the BBEG. Still everything had been focusing on Epic spells so it was shocking as hell to see how much damage a regular high-level spell could do with enough metamagic stacked up.
