I think having stats for deities is a good idea; though I don't use them (much), there are times when it is appropriate, and there are groups that will use them a lot more than I will!

I don't really object to stats for gods on the basis of "Gods can do anything, so they don't need stats." I object to them on the basis that the space can be used a lot better.

I don't know about Deities & Demigods, but in Faiths & Pantheons the stats for each god took up about a full page. That's space that could have been used for more details on the gods' churches, or if you really feel you need to fill out the book with more "crunch," more priestly prestige classes.
