Complete Divine info?

They put the Favored Soul in a not extremely uncore book? Ugh. Now if only Sorcs got all that for having that spell progression...

I've used the Minis Handbook content enough that I think I would've noticed any disclaimer stating that it was "extremely uncore". If that's just a label you arbitrarily attached to the book of your own accord, then there's little cause to worry as you can just as easily attach it to the "Complete" series as well.

As for the Favored Soul, IIRC it has the same allotment of spells per day as a sorc. True, the FS knows a couple of extra spells, but that generaly just lets the character pick up an extra curative spell or two. All-in-all, I've found it to be a viable, balanced class--but it's dull as dirt, and without something like domains it's pretty much devoid of customizability.

I've got to wonder if it'll be revised in any way. I'm kind of ambivalent about it. On the one hand, the Minis Hanbook is a 3.5e book, so an update shouldn't be warranted. OTOH, I would like to see it tweaked to be a little less homogeneous. Combining spontaneous divine magic with domain spells in the way that Unearthed Arcana suggests is very cool, and having used it in my campaign I really think that's the way it should always work. I can say without reservation that I wouldn't be the least bit sad to see the stupid 17th-level wings go away (or at least become one among many options).

Btw, what's the Spirit Shaman from? Is that perhaps the Oriental Adventures shaman? I recall an ancestral priest in a Dragon article within the last year...

Huh? You don't have access to the whole spell list, you have to choose what spells you know how to cast. That is the very essence of customizability.

Two Favoured Souls can be very different, based on the spells they know, in the same manner that two Sorcerers can be very different.

After that, you can choose the Feats you get as well. :)

Cheers!

You know, if they just republished the D&D third of the Miniatures Handbook and slashed the price, we'd all be better off.

Odd that they're apparently picking only one of the two core divine spellcasting classes from the books, and the sillier one at that (although both are kind of silly).

With the MinisHB and UA (spontaneous divine caster) out, doesn't the favored soul strike anyone else as redundant?
A bit...but I'd like it if they toned down the Favoured Soul some. It just gets far too much compared with a Sorcerer.

My question is regarding whether they're giving druids favored treatment in this book. Or will I have to wait a year for the 'Complete Naturalist' or something to get prestige classes and feats designed around the druid class?

Hi TroyXavier,
On the Living Greyhawk discussion group, one of the directors of the campaign mentioned after all four of the complete books were out that certain prestige classes would no longer be allowed in Living Greyhawk. I think there will be one more complete book after the Complete Arcane.
