Complete Warrior - Master Thrower PrC, thoughts/suggestions/ideas/builds?

Hey there everyone!

I'm just wondering what other people think of the Master Thrower Prestige Class from the Complete Warrior book? I haven't seen any threads here about it yet.

When I first saw the class I thought "that might be cool". After thinking about it and looking at the class more seriously, I thought "hey, this sounds like it'd be a really fun class to play!" What do you think about the class?

Also, if you where going to make a character that was going for Master Thrower, what how would you build him/her? I was thinking a halfling rogue/fighter that used either daggers or small halfspears...?

Anyone ever thought this kind of character through? What would you do to make a cool Master Thrower character? What kinds of feats/tactics would you use? Since you can't be considered "flanking" when using a ranged weapon, how would you maximize getting sneak attacks?

My first thought was that if I need a replacement character for the epic level game I'm playing in a Rogue/Master Thrower/Invisible Blade could be fun. You might want to looking at building toward that and having the world's greatest knife fighter.

I've looked at the Invisible Blade, and it doesn't really impress me. The only thing that looks good is the 5th lvl ability which lets you use Feint in combat as a free action. I can't place it right now, but isn't there a feat that let's you do that?

Looking over the Master Thrower again, I think it's the picture that makes the class look like it's so fun to play! I can just see this little halfling that's dressed in armor like the one pictured, with little knives in special pockets all over his body, just waiting to be snatched up (with quickdraw) and hurled at an opponnent! :)

Nah, the halfling +1 to throwing rocks. Use shuriken and some wands of GMW, Keen edge, Flame Arrow and other goodies.

I don't have CW, but that class sounds like he can throw anything as a weapon. Sounds like fun. If I was playing one, i'd also take "live cat" as excotic weapon profiency, and then WF and WS for cat throwing. ;)

No, it doesn't allow you to "throw anything". Certainly not live cats anyways. :P

One of the nifty combos has already been mentioned: Rogue/Invisible Blade/Master Thrower. IIRC, the PrCs are 5-level (instead of 10-level); so you could have a character be a master of knife combat both in melee & ranged fights (even worse with daggers with a keen &/or returning enchantment).

Also, a Swashbuckler/Duelist combo has potential, though I think that some of the class abilities overlap. A Rogue/Dervish, Ranger/Dervish, or Swashbuckler/Dervish seems to have potential, as well (Heck, I'd say Drizzt should have a few levels of Dervish for his scimitar fighting style).

A Fighter or archery-focused Ranger with Order of the Bow Intiate levels promises some fun (esp. for any sort of pseudo-Legolas PCs).

A Sorcerer/Master of the Unseen Hand combo, a Sorcerer/Mindspy combo, or even a Psion/Mindspy combo seems potentially potent.

For a sort of Basic D&D "elf" class, an Elf Fighter/Wizard/Bladesinger or an Elf Fighter/Wizard/Spellsword seem great (or go with Sorcerer instead of Wizard to focus on # of spells & avoid lugging around a spellbook).

Of course, Paladin/Cavaliers seem a nice mix (even written so). A Ranger/Paladin/Justiciar may work out well, too.

For villains, a Hexblade/Blackguard or Hexblade/Assassin shows promise.

Speaking of the Invisible Blade. Are the prereqs correct?! Why in the world would Far Shot & Point Blank Shot be necessary? Or perhaps is it just a typo switched from the Master Thrower?

Unless of course you spent a feat on "Weapon Focus: Live Cat, hurled". ;)
