I could only get 2 of my previous players or co-players interested enough in playtesting the first packet of 5e...
Later those who accepted got the 2nd and 3rd packets with character creation rules, made a quick page count, browsed the character options, and even they told me to forget it.
The conclusion: current complexity level is just what I like. If I want to play alone.![]()
That's about where I'm at right now... which is why we're currently playing Moldvay Basic with a few house rules (skills, advantage/disadvantage,...) stolen from the 5e playtest rules.
However, I am positive about 5e based on what I've seen, and on the comments of Mearls et al. that they plan to release a bare bones 'Basic'-esque 5e that is much simpler than the current playtest packet(s).
