Comprehensive Lava rules?

Now, I'm not running a 3.x game - will this system work for older rulesets? I occasionally have characters that try to swim in lava, wade in super-heated rock, and sometimes even try to bathe in magma. I'd like to have these actions be as realistic as possible, but I don't have the time to convert a bunch of rules to my system of choice. Will these lava rules work for me with minimal effort?

You're covered.

Not saying we might not release new versions that are "optimized" for other rulesets, but the Basic F&B rules will fit perfectly into any existing RPG. We guarantee it.

Fire and Brimstone has really solid rules for what it covers, but despite the name, it doesn't tell me what happens if I fall into magma or superheated rock (or, for that matter, fire and brimstone) rather than lava.

And the other day, my character Yakov Smirnoff had lava fall into him. The DM said I die. I complained that this technically wasn't covered in the rules and I ought to get a save, but she says that it should be applied more broadly, as evidenced by the D&D example of stepping (NOT falling) into lava. We got into a big fight and she broke up with me.

The other players were pretty upset about the whole thing.

Will these situations be clarified in the errata or a follow-up product?

No. And the writers want me to ask you to stop sending them e-mails. You're scaring their wives, man.

Finally: The brain trust involved in their creation is huge, so I'm relatively certain that they have been examined from nasically every angle before going to press.

I mean honestly. Gary Gygax, Robin Laws, Steve Kenson, Peter Adkison, Ed Greenwood, Wil Wheaton and Scott Rouse all speak highly of it...

My opinion as a EN World staff reviewer kind of pales beside this volume of praise.
I believe the big deal here is that they ALL AGREE on something. I don't think in the history of gaming has such a broad rules writing slice of the RPG pie ever whole-heartedly agreed on a supplemental rule. This alone speaks volumes. I for one heartily endorse this product!
Simple, elegant, no-nonsense, the very heart of what RPGs should be.

Please review the FAQ at www.lavarules.com. Particularly the bit with the Sage.

I've given similar advice to your DM, so I recommend you watch your step in the future.

Hmmmm. How well will this fit in my Exalted game? Say if one of my characters has a Perfect Defence?

Well, the perfect would trump, then. Perfect defense always wins, even against perfect attacks. Of course, while Heavenly Guardian Defense could deflect a lava flow, you'd want something more along the lines of Adamant Skin Technique to deal with immersion issues.

On another note, this is the second thread I've noticed heaping praise on a nigh-irrelevant portion of the ruleset. What's the joke?
