Personally, I don't even look at Celerons. I'm not a huge game player, but I am a programmer. Athlons and Pentiums seem about equal, all things considered -- until you look at price. You can almost always get an Athlon for less than an equivalent Pentium (and maybe a bit more performance from the Athlon).
Given the choice, I'll take AMD everytime.
Of course, I'm one of those odd ducks that considers Dell to be on par with a Packard Bell. IME, you spend more time rebooting Dells than you do using them. Of course, those were all corporate machines, so it could say more about the desktop support people I've worked with than Dell.
