Concealment from Spells + Hide?

Hello,

Long time lurker, first time poster.

Does anyone allow the concealment granted from Blur or Concealing Amorpha to enable the use of the hide skill? I always thought those spells granted "a 20% miss chance, as if you had concealment" - but checking the SRD I see that both just grant plain old "concealment." The hide skill states pretty clearly that once you have cover or concealment, you can hide so long as you are not being observed.

So, does that mean that blur essentially grants the target camouflage, allowing hiding in any sort of terrain, but not while being observed?

The only reason I even thought of this is because Concealing Amorpha is a requirement for the Shadowmind prestige class (CAdv), which is essentially a Rogue-Psion. When I saw that I started wondering why a Rogue would value that particular power.

Consider the visual effects of Blur, and the function of camoflauge.

Camoflauge's real goal - apart from being appropriately colored to your probable background - is to break up the lines of the human form. That's why even non-appropriately colored camoflauge is still useful.

Blur does the same thing by blending out the edges of your body.

So, yes, it provides concealment and allows you to use the Hide skill, so long as you aren't observed when you try to hide.
