Confirmed: No Warforged in PHB!

Yeah, Ptolus uses dark elves (specifically not called "drow") and it'd irritate me to have to pick up FRCS to play in a different setting.

I think changelings are so good, they ought to kill dopplegangers and take their stuff as high level race abilities. It'd mean a little tweaking of the Eberron backstory, but it could be made to work.

I wonder if any of the warforged variants will appear in MM1. The big dumb might-as-well-be-a-golem one probably shouldn't, but the scout and the mount are swell.

Ooh, and living spells ...

Don't jump the gun there.

Andy said that several possible monsters were being considered, from Aasimar to Warforged. So both are in the realm of "maybe".
It was a list of MM races not in the PH.
The maybe part was whether or not they would get PC treatment.
And I can't imagine warforged would fail to get that treatment if ANY monster race got it.
I don't think there are any real maybes left for warforged. The only reason it was specifically mentioned is it is the last potential PC race in the MM list alphabetically.

Edit: Oh yeah: WOOT!!!!!

Depending on how they treat racial ability progression as you go up in levels, I suspect changelings and shifters will eventually take over doppelgangers and lycanthropes respectively.

My dream setting would have:

Humans
Changelings
Faen
Warforged
Elan - but based off humans, via my human transformational paragon class.
Mojh / Yuan-Ti - again, as a human transformational paragon class.
Giant - as a human transformational paragon class.
Tieflings - as a human transformational paragon class.

Cheers, -- N

I agree -- although it'd be nice if there could be a published Eberron adventure with a changeling who doesn't have a distinguishing mark that shows in every form they take. It's to the paint that any time someone with a noticeable scar shows up in our Eberron campaign, we all look at each other & go, 'aaah, a changeling!'. o_0

I've actually never heard of that. What publishea dventure has that? o.o

Since I'm not the DM of our group, I don't know. I think they may actually be from Dungeon magazine, now that I think about it. Happened twice (the two times we've had notable changeling antagonists), & considering how odd it is at all (I mean, why couldn't they lose the scar when they change shape? they can change genitalia for crying out loud) , it really stood out to us.
