Conjoined (Siamese) Twins

First Post
In my neverending quest for gaming strangeness, I've thought of having conjoined twin characters. Actually, I stole it from some martial arts flick. But anyways, that got me thinking. How would you rule conjoined twin PC's? Prohibit them altogether? Make the twin an NPC?

i'd do it as a template but the bonuses and penalties would be hard to do. i'd allow one person to play both. i doubt that one of the twin would think much differently then the other.

feature / reason

maybe make them large / 2 bodies
ambidex and 2 wep fighting for free or allow them to use 2 weapons at no penalty / 2 minds
con bonus / 2 bodies
dex penalty / 2 minds
can roll for knowledge checks twice / 2 minds
has to make will saves twice / 2minds
can have one extra favored class / 2 minds
armor cost more has to be made / odd shape

i don't see how the twins would be able to take different classes. how would one learn to be a wizard and the other learn to be a fighter so i gave them the extra favored class to show that they are 2 different people, maybe they have to multi class in 2 classes with the same BAB (they tend to be similar) fighter/barbarian wizard/sorcerer druid/cleric

there is so much to consider. it would take a while to make a
complete template or race out of it. i don't know any conjoined twins so i have no idea what other problems or benifets might come out of it.

although i'm sure there are enough people on this board to get it done.

There is a multiheaded Template at the WOTC site for creating two (and more) headed monsters. I don't see why it couldn't be applied to a humanoid.

But what happens if each twin takes a defferent class?

and where the join occurs will make a big difference (ie head-head is much different to two bodies sharing legs or a ettin-like two heads one body...

each head taking a differetn class is where the extra favored class comes from unless you think it would be better to track exp for 2 charactors.

where they are joined is one of the things that needs to be addressed. perhaps where would determine the stats.

True, but you can always use that as a starting point when building the mechanics.

I also remember an old Dragon Editor, probably Roger Moore, who was trying to convince a DM that he and a friend could both play half an ettin. It came up in an editorial somewhere along the line.

it's a good starting place but the tricky part will be adding in the other body.

although the ettin would be a good place to start with the mental effects.
they can cast 2 spells right?
what other beifets are there to 2 heads on one body?
the only one i can think is 2 checks for the once per rank checks. the ones that you can't retry until you get a new rank in the skill.

what are the down sides? do they have to make 2 will saves? that's the type of stuff that needs to be addressed.

I just saw some bits of a documentary on a two-headed girl, but I wasn't paying attention so I can't comment.

Although I suspect both members of such an arrangement would have to cooperate with each other, thus giving them both to one player makes sense. Further, while they have to pursue the same goals simultaneously (athletic or intellectual are, in this case, mutually exclusive), each head could well have different skills or spellcasting classes.

So are they individual PCs, or are they one PC? If they're one PC, it could be reasoned that their unusual physical nature requires additional experience and training to gain a level, thus two heads that could independantly learn ten levels can only learn five, spending the rest of their time figuring out how to coordinate swordfighting when you've got two people in control of the hand.

Now here's an idea... conjoined triplets.
