If a creature has improved grapple and constrict how much damage does it do in one round?

Ex: Creature hits PC, does damage, makes grapple check, wins, does it do constrict damge that round?

What Crothian said. The Improved Grab ability description (3.5 MM, pg.310) says that a "successful hold does not deal any extra damage unless the creature also has the constrict special attack." I read that as saying that it does add in the extra constrict damage when establishing a hold.

From the SRD:

Constrict (Ex): A creature with this special attack can crush an opponent, dealing bludgeoning damage, after making a successful grapple check. The amount of damage is given in the creature’s entry. If the creature also has the improved grab ability it deals constriction damage in addition to damage dealt by the weapon used to grab.

Also from the SRD, from the Improved Grab ability:

A successful hold does not deal any extra damage unless the creature also has the constrict special attack. If the creature does not constrict, each successful grapple check it makes during successive rounds automatically deals the damage indicated for the attack that established the hold. Otherwise, it deals constriction damage as well (the amount is given in the creature’s descriptive text).

So, in your example,

The creature would indeed do constrict damage in the same round that it initially grabbed the PC. Also note, in successive rounds, with successful grapple checks, a creature does both normal damage for the attack that grabbed the PC and constrict damage.
