Constructs!!!

I have been looking around for some time, and i cannot find anywhere the rules for creating constructs and golems. If anyone knows or can tell me where to go, i would really appreciate it.

Monster Manual, under the golem entries I believe

That's the right place.

However, since I read your other thread where you mentioned that you're a new player, you should check with your DM first as to whether or not he/she minds if you look through the Monster Manual. Some DM's don't like it when they're players do that, because it's too tempting to use knowledge that you gained reading the book that your character wouldn't necessarily have.

If you explain to your DM that you're trying to have your character learn how to make a construct, then I'm sure he/she will be able to explain it to you without you needing to resort to the book.

I see you've already been sucked in - your first hour on the boards and you've already got two threads!

There are rules for creating golems and shield guardians in the Monster Manual, under their individual entries (it mentions what spells must be cast, how much it costs in equipment, etc.). If you're talking about creating new construct types, the only book I'm aware of is Mongoose's Encyclopaedia Arcane: Constructs, which has rules for creating all types of new golems (wood, shell, bone, etc.) besides the standard ones.

Edit: The phone rang while I was typing this; I finished it up to see that I'd been beaten to the punch multiple times.

know where i could find this online? i dont have the monster manual.......

Before people jump all over you, you might not know that most people frown on illegally obtaining copies of books through file-sharing servers and the like.

I'm not implying that you meant to do that, but just in case...

Since you're new to the game, I'm not sure how much you know about things like the OGL and SRDs and so forth. In this case, there is a "free" stripped down version of the Monster Manual available at the WotC site (www.wizards.com). Just go to the D&D section and find the links for "Open Gaming".

Again, though, I would make sure that your DM is cool with you reading the Monster Manual before you do that.

SRD's?????
i am just that new...........lol

Just wait. . . if you really get into playing, it's literally like entering a whole new world.

Here are the basics of Construct Creation:

1) You need a feat called, cleverly enough, "Craft Construct". Its pre-requisites are Craft Magic Arms and Armor and Craft Wondrous Item. Both of those feats are in the Player's Handbook, which I'm assuming you have.

2) You have to pay 1/25 of the item's price in XP and use up raw materials that cost half the cost of the finish construct.

3) For example, a Clay Golem requires a 1,000 pound block of clay, treated with rare oils and powders worth 1,500 GP. Creating the body requires a DC 15 Craft (sculpting) check or a DC 15 Craft (pottery) check. It requires you to be Caster Level 11, have the Craft Construct feat, and some spells. A Clay Golem costs 40,000 for its "market price". So, the cost to create it is 21,500 GP (half of the 40,000 plus the 1,500 for the rare oils and powders) and 1,540 XP.

Fun to think about... I got the impression that you're relatively low level. But, it's good to plan ahead if you want to start making golems at higher levels. You'll know what feats to take and where to place your skill points (Craft skills!).
