+22 Grapple check!

I love monks. Actually, I'm lukewarm on the monk class as written, but I really love the idea of monks in D&D. Here's a couple of monk sketches, based on a martial arts system I've been thinking about quite a bit recently.

The monk in these sketches keeps his pants up with an extra-long length of cord. The cord is extra long so that he can maul people with it a la Jackie Chan, and plus if he gets super fat on an adventure he won't have to go out begging to get a new rope.

This first sketch is a lock and throw using an edged weapon as a lever against the neck. This technique is nifty because even if you screw up your throw, you'll still chop the guy's head off, which makes this technique perfect for 1) mammals, and 2) ninjas.

This monk is about to give this guy a good reason not to star in any more books, I think. The monk is looking for somewhere to put his buddy. Headfirst into the bar, maybe.

This lock works better if the right hand is behind the head, but don't tell D_____.

This character is narrating the current "story hour within a story hour" taking place in the Risen Goddess game. This is "Fearless" 'Fernal, the rogue determined to become the Greatest Delver in Faerun or die trying.

I'll let you guess which of those things transpired.

Those last two are great! I love the idea of the hammerhead braided into the beard; my dwarf in KidC's game will be doing that, I think. And 'fernal? He's my main man. What a smooooth looking guy. :D

I love wise yet perplexed look of this guy, and always have. But what is that thing at the end of his beard?

I've always imagined that Abernathy, the arch-mage from Sagiro's game looked a bit like this. At least the expression.

Ouch...it looks like a weight on the end of that beard...new dwarven exotic weapon? Beard mace? :)

Seriously...I love your Malachite...hell, all of these pics.

He is Enkil, from the Great Delve game (recently chronicled in the Risen Goddess Story Hour). Enkil braided the hammer of Moradin holy symbol into his beard in order to help disguise how short his beard was (i.e. his youth and inexperience).

Exotic Weapon: Beard Mace; Small-sized bludgeoning weapon; damage 1d3; critical 20/x3.

New Feat: No Means No
Prerequisite: Exotic Weapon Proficiency (Beard Mace)
Benefit: When grappled, you may make an extra attack per round at your highest base attack bonus with a beard mace by shaking your head vigorously from side to side.

"My brooch - the one with the three-quarters moon-shape upon it - it offends my sight! I shall cut it out with my wide-bladed knife."

"Ouch! Son of a @#$^&~! What was I thinking?"

Hee hee.

The expression on Fernal's face is great - the way his left eyebrow is raised, it makes him look like he is plotting something. I am also a sucker for any character who wields a rapier, especially when he also has elaborately detailed sleeves.

[Edit] Duh. Typo.
