Contingency - Counter Spell

Will combo work?

"If I am targeted with spell X (that affects my person,
such as, say magic missile), I counter the spell with a
magic missile".

Or can I only "target" the spell cast at me with a
dispel magic?

"If I am targeted with a magic missile, I cast a dispel
magic targeting that spell".

Or, perhaps, this will not work at all?

Thanks

It can't be done. The Contingency description says, "The spell to be brought into effect by the contingency must be one that affects the character's person." If you set a contingent Magic Missile, when the triggering condition was met, you would shoot yourself.

Hmmmm. So, if I used a Contingency-Dispel Magic
it could:

Target dispel a charm monster or hold monster spell
(only after I missed my save)

But could not be used against a failed disintegrate
save (for, then, alas, it would be too late).

Correct?

Or, because the dispel is targeting a "spell" and not your
"entire person" it would not work. You would need to
dispel all spells running on yourself. More correct?

Thanks!
