Pathfinder 1E Converting a Paizo AP to Eberron: Which?

Serpent's Skull is looking great, but I notice now that it is written for Pathfinder, not 3.5. Would I have to convert everything if I wanted it to work with 3.5? Which APs are specifically written for 3.5? I know the ones from Dungeon Magazine are, but what about the rest?

Thanks.
Conversion work is fairly minimal and easy enough to do on the fly. For a group of newbies who are going to be following your lead, I can't see there being any problems.

If you subscribe to the most recent adventure path (Serpent Skull), you also get the pdf's of each adventure for free. This is handy if you want to pull out the pictures, maps and illustrations and present them to the players yourself. As well, you can get a lot of accessories such as equipment cards especially for Serpent Skull.

About the only warning I would have is that it is set in Golarion (Paizo's world). While you can drop this into Eberron, there are going to be numerous cultural disconnects (warforged etc. vs, Mwangi) to negotiate. Perhaps enough that I would almost suggest going Golarion. That way, you can get fullest use out of some of the accessory books that really enrich the campaign (Heart of the Jungle and Sargava).

Whichever way though, I'm sure you are guaranteed of having a heap of fun so enjoy.

Best Regards

New developments: I will use Pathfinder after all. I considered it, and I think it's easier adding Eberron to the PF system than converting the AP to D&D 3.5. A friend offered to lend me his PF manual, so I'll do with that until I can buy my own.

I'm 90% sure by now that I will go with Serpent's Skull. For what I've read, it feels the most Eberron-ish.

Anything I shoud be taking into consideration for adding Eberron to PF or to this particular AP?

Thanks!

I think you'll enjoy Pathfinder. You can get the PDF for $10 from their site. Also the Pathfinder SRD is a great online resource as well.

I've heard good things about Serpent's Skull, I have them at home but haven't read them yet. And I have not run Eberron enough to make constructive comments for adapting, I am sure others will be able to chip with some advice though.

I did not know of the existance of a Pathfinder SRD. Thanks, it saved me a lot of troubles...

I've read 1/4 of the adventure by now, and here are some changes that I'm already considering:

- The Jenivere is a Lyrandar House ship traveling to Stormreach.
- Smuggler's Shiv is located north of Xen'drik.
- The Varisian Scholar = A Morgrave Uiversity Scholar
- The Chupacabra and the Tengu are replaced with some creatures more Eberron-ish (although conceptually they remain the same).
- The cannibals are Drow (not sure about this one yet.

What do you think?

Quick post: About adapting the backstory into Eberron. I can easily adapt the Thrune's Fang backstory into the setting, as a ship lost during The Last War. I can also add the Serpentfolk as a race enslaved by the Giants of Xen'drik in the era of their domain over the continent, just like the Drows. Where Im havin more trouble is with the Azlant background. I thought I could replace all Azlant with the Giant civilization of Xen'drik, but Im not sure the effect that could have in later books.

Azlant were the advanced human race who fell to a global catastrophe 10,000 years ago on Golarion but left some old ruins in the jungle.

Giants are the magically advanced race of the past who fell leaving wondrous ruins in the jungles and some barbaric descendants.

It should work fine unless the AP dredges up storyline stuff about how current people like the nations of Taldoria and Cheliaz claim to be Azlanti descended.

I'm astounded that nobody has recommended Second Darkness. It has the makings of a marvelous explanation for the fall of Xendrik. Alas, it's one of the weakest of the APs that Paizo has produced but that doesn't mean it's lousy. The flavor of Xendrik might be just what that story needs.

I also think either of the city-based APs (Crimson Throne and Council of Thieves) could be dropped into Eberron pretty easily.

Yeah, I was thinking about that, so I came up with another possibility:

Replacing the Azlant with an attempt of the Drow to create a civilization after the fall of the giants. So, history would go:

- Giants enslave Serpentfolk and Drow.
- Quori invasion.
- Dragons destroy Giants.
- Drow and Serpentfolk are now free.
- Both try to create their own civilizations, but don't last long as they destroy each other.

As this occurs also about 40,000 years prior to the campaign, it could have been that both civilizations lasted about 500 years, enough to create cities and fortresses all throught Xen'drik.

What do you think about this?

I've only read the first Serpent's Skull adventure, but it should work fairly well to port over to Eberron, and your modifications sound good.

Changing the cannibals to Drow would require a bit of storyline retooling, but would tie the adventure better into the Eberron setting. I would recommend making the cannibals scorpion-themed in order to fit them in with Xen'Drik drow, and replacing a couple of the monsters in their area with scorpion-like monsters.
