Converting Dark*Matter Creatures

Not sure what factors we should put on the hellfire, but I do think there's some potential on the symbols idea. Both symbol of pain and symbol of madness are in d20 Modern as incantations (albeit renamed Sigil of Algos and Sigil of Lyssa), so they have precedence in the game.

Well since it's "Foul" how about some kind of disease-curse like a Mummy's? Maybe slower acting but still nasty.

Cleon, do you mean to add a disease/curse to the Hellfire or the Foul Miasma? I think I'd prefer the latter.

Alright, how's this sound? Too powerful, or not powerful enough?

"Foul Miasma (Su): The tainted aura of Chernobog brings ill omen and despair to those that fall into its presence. Any creature within 30(?) feet of Chernobog faces being stricken with a supernatural disease that rots the body and poisons the mind (Fort save DC 34 negates; incubation period 1 day; primary 1d8 Constitution, secondary 1d8 Wisdom). A remove disease spell or a Treat Injury check (DC 20) can cure the victim."

I just realized I have no idea how diseases work in Modern.

The power level is probably ok. If it's a supernatural disease, though, I'd not allow a Treat Injury (or Heal in D&D) check to cure it (and would certainly require a very high DC if I did). In D&D terms, I'd also at least require a remove curse or break enchantment before letting the remove disease work (like mummy rot); does Modern have those spells?

The Fort DC and damage look reasonable, but the Treat Injury seems far too easy. Plus, it's an occult disease so might be beyond normal medical science.

How about making it require some kind of occult lore check AND a medical skill check?

I agree with freyar that remove curse or break enchantment should be a prereq for healing it magically.

Okay, revising it as such, how's this?

A Knowledge (Arcane Lore) check (DC 30) can also uncover methods of treating the toxin through medical means, allowing the character to make a Treat Injury check at the same DC."

I'd add a "or break enchantment" after the remove curse but aside from that it looks fine.

I'm still not sure if DC 30 is enough; a 12th level character could make that 1/4 or so of the time. This is a 28 HD demon lord! Let's bump it to DC 35.
