Converting Epic Level Creatures

So something like:

Engulfing Maw (Ex): As part of an attack or full attack action, a draedan can stretch its vast maw to cover an area X feet in diameter anywhere within its Reach. All creatures within the affected area must make a DC X Reflex save to avoid being scooped into the creature's expanded, open mouth and swallowed. See Swallow Whole, below, for the consequences of being swallowed by a draeden. The save DC is Dexterity-based.

Hmm, still doesn't save much over a standard action. Not sure if that's powerful enough.

Depends on the area. If it can swallow everything in a 500 ft. radius, then it's quite nasty!

Besides, going by the original description this is an attack it only uses against inconsequential foes who aren't likely to damage it after being swallowed. If it meets anything dangerous it repeatedly chomps them until they pose no threat (or blasts them with some spell or other).

Well that depends on how long a Reach we give it, I suppose.

I'd think its Maw would cover an area smaller than the distance its neck can stretch.

I think 300 ft. should be plenty. We don't want it to get to ridiculous for the DM to adjudicate.

I though 300 ft. was the radius of the bite, and the Reach would be longer. Maybe 500 ft or a couple of thousand feet.

See, I said I wouldn't want to go overboard.

When I said thrash around, I meant reach. I thought that's what Shade meant too. Anyone know how big around these tentacles are supposed to be? That might help.
