Maybe just skills, feats, and equipment. These guys like to fight, so how about Weapon Finesse for the feat and giving them a finessable weapon?

What, you mean like a rapier?

That summons visions of tomb-tainted kobolds dressed as the Cardinal's Guards from The Three Musketeers.

A short sword would work, actually. I suppose the trade-off of attack bonus vs extra damage depends on what AC critter they expect to face.

Besides, these things ain't tomb-tainted. :p

A shortsword is fine, as is a rapier for that matter.

Hwowever, the original entry says they use handaxes and hammers, doing 1d6 with the former and 1d4 with the latter. Handaxes and light hammers are both light weapons, but do 1d4 and 1d3 damage when small sized.

We could make the handaxe the "1d4" weapon and give them something non-finessable as the '1d6' weapon.

How about giving them warhammers (1d6), handaxes (1d4), so they've got the option of the more accurate Weapon Finesse & Handaxe or the harder-hitting Warhammer?

Besides, these things ain't tomb-tainted. :p

I know these aren't. Obviously, I was referring to the visionary Cardinal's Crypt Kobold Guards. :)

Handaxe plus warhammer sounds great! Or battleaxe plus light hammer, though the damage is slighty off then.

I never knew Richelieu was a necromancer! But he must be if he's making tomb-tainted kobolds. ;)

If I don't make him a necromancer, how can I have Richelieu return from the grave to replace Cardinal Mazarin?
