D&D 3.x Converting monsters from Mayfair Games Role Aids product line

I like that advancement. Especially with the ability to get Huge. We should have an advancing sidebar that says that their eyebeams deal more damage as size increases.

Updated.

I have no idea why they have levitate. Maybe we can work it into the flavor text why they'd want to levitate objects. Perhaps they are hell's janitorial staff? ;)

That's it! They can stop their opponents from hiding behind rocks by levitating the rocks out of the way. Those sneaky devils! ;)

The darkness and fear suggests devil, though. We could make it a resident of Hell that isn't a true devil, though. A race of pests, perhaps? Or mercenaries? Or a subjugated race connected to the Ancient Baatorians or to a Material plane long ago subsumed by Hell?

So which of those (or some combination) did we want to go with for flavor?

It sounded like subjugated race was preferred by both freyar and I. Of the two possibilities, I'd rather they used to be from some alien Prime world. They don't strike me as being much like the Ancient Baatorians--what little we know about them, anyway.

That sounds like a good idea to me.

"Long ago, hrunchuks hunted the forests of a treacherous Material world. Then, for some reason beyond the mortal ken, the Lords of the Nine wrenched that world into the Inferno. What is clear is that the hrunchuks developed many magical abilities in the eons since, adapting to the Hells with an ease unknown in other races. They are now a subject race of the true devils, less subtle than their masters but not less efficient in wreaking destruction."

Or something like that?

That sounds pretty good to me. Perhaps the tale is used as a cautionary one by the sages, lest their own world be sucked into the Pit as well?
