OK, what do we think about the cost of the normal tabernacle focus? I'd think to keep it relatively low (maybe a few 100 gp), but I'm willing to be convinced one way or the other.

I don't think it makes a great deal of difference, since it's a community magic sort of thing presumably all the goatlings in the village would normally pitch in to pay for it.

I was thinking a thousand gold or so, but don't mind going lower, maybe 300 or 500 gp?

These critters aren't all that nasty. After all, they only suck energy from bad guys.

The normal tabernacle should be made of ?? Specially treated wood, precious metals?

Well we don't have to be that specific if we don't want to. We could use something along the lines of the secret chest spell, which just says the chest "must be exceptionally well crafted and expensive, constructed for you by master crafters. The cost of such a chest is never less than 5,000 gp" and gives it dimensions of "about 3 feet by 2 feet by 2 feet".

How about this?

Focus: The tabernacle, a well crafted ritual chest, constructed by master crafters. The tabernacle never costs less than 750 gp and is approximately 5 ft long, 3 ft wide, and 4 ft tall.
