That could work. I also like something based on the chaos beast's Corporeal Instability.

I was imagining it working something like baleful teleport's "You psychoportively disperse minuscule portions of the subject, dealing 9d6 points of damage", except it does so by transmutation into chaos-stuff rather than conjuration/psychoportation/teleportation.

I suppose any or all of those might work. I'd be careful not to make it too similar to the chaos beast, as they are already quite similar.

Well its touch seems quite different from a Chaos Beast's corporeal instability. It doesn't temporarily turn a victim into a blob, it just dissolves part of them.

Something like...

Dissolution Touch (Ex): The touch of a nameless limbo thing converts any sort of matter into the random stuff of Limbo doing X damage, halved with a successful DC Y Fortitude save. This attack does full damage to objects and ignores hardness. If a dissolution touch kills a creature its body dissolves into chaos, the remains are not sufficient for a raise dead spell to bring back to life.

Maybe make it also do X (or some multiple thereof) damage per round to anything it grapples, and it's ok. I find myself wishing for some way to make it more "chaosy" though.

Agreed to the grappling effect, and I suspect we need to limit its affect on objects somewhat like a disintegrate spell:

When used against an object, the ray simply disintegrates as much as one 10- foot cube of nonliving matter. Thus, the spell disintegrates only part of any very large object or structure targeted. The ray affects even objects constructed entirely of force, such as forceful hand or a wall of force, but not magical effects such as a globe of invulnerability or an antimagic field.

Granted, it could strike an object repeatedly, eliminating a 10-foot cube each time.
