Converting Treasure from Old-School Adventures?

GX.Sigma

Adventurer
So, I'm running the D&D Next playtest rules, and I'm playing a lot of old-school adventures (B/X, 1e, OSR). A lot of those adventures have thousands of gold pieces lying around, which seems like way too much for the new version's economy. It's pretty similar to the 3e economy, so does anyone know a simple ballpark fraction to make the treasure more suitable? For example, halve all the treasure?

My rule of thumb in all editions is that if a number looks vastly too much, I take a 0 off the end. Anything less such as halving values is not worth worrying about.
