Cool Dice at Chicago Gameday

shadowlight

First Post
So someone gave out some really cool pewter dice (hex-bar d6) at the Chicago Gameday. My wife wants one and I want a full set.

Who made them and where can we find more?!

That would be our new friend "jalea". Here's what he had to say about his dice (and current industry involvement) in the Chicago Gameday thread...

It's an ex-company now. I do Dice as a hobby now, to use up extra pewter from the minis casting. I do spincasting of miniatures for a couple of gaming companies. Shellshock being one of them.
can't discuss the rest (yet)

:) They sure are sweet, ain't they? :)

For those of you who weren't at the game day, here's what the dice look like:

Man, I really want a set of regular pewter dice after getting this. A full set of pewter dice! Wouldn't that rock? Does Chessex (or anyone) make a set?

Yeah, well the sterling silver dice cost $300 or so -- I'm looking more for pewter. It's a little bit softer on the wallet. :)

Those Dragon Star Creations dice may be just what I'm looking for.

Just out of curiosity...

Do metal dice dent the surface they're rolled on? A wooden tabletop for instance?

They shouldn't, unless they are really big or something. And most of them are fairly rounded, so there are no sharp pointy bits... Besides, most tabletops are resilient enough to handle a little mistreatment... dropping a spoon or something would be about the same as rolling a dice, and I think most tables can withstand that :)

make your own...

Ran into a guy at Pentacon one year that basically too brass hex stock cut it to length deburred the ends and drilled small dimples into it. Walla. Ofcourse I'm not sure where I am gonna get Brass Hex stock thats 1/4" flat-to-flat but I imagine it shouldent be that hard to find to one determined enough.
