No. See, Geeky is cool. You see people doing geeky things, and you're like, "Hey, that looks fun."

This . . . unless you're already completely into gaming, you see it and you say, "Wow, what a bunch of dorks."

Dork is derogatory, implying people who have no lives.

Geek implies people who, in addition to the rest of their lives, really enjoy something because it's intellectual and entertaining.

This ad makes D&D gamers look like dorks. The tacky stop-motion presentation only adds to that, and the fact that their D&D session lasts all of about a minute really ruins the presentation. A proper ad could have had fades, a bit of actual close-ups and maybe some actual humor that can be appreciated by non-gamers. "Healing potions," I'm sad to say, don't cut it.

Geek, dork, dweeb, nerd, whatever. I can't believe you can cut the difference and be derogatory to one group or another, and IMO to do so is juvenile. Sheesh, WotC puts together dececnt marketing tool that puts the game in a good light and it gets smashed. It's not like they have a huge budget and a thousand person marketing team. Kudos to them and bring on the potions.

This thing caused a crisis of conscience among my group. We feel that we cannot play D&D anymore since seeing this thing. Seriously, it's moronic.

Seriously, I think you're group is taking gaming way too seriously. :)

I kept clicking on the beer bottle, but I got nothing. :(

Maybe they should get a little "Sponsored by Miller Lite" logo in there somewhere. That'll give 'em that boys night out feel.

Seriously though, this is a good attempt at making our geeky hobby more respectable. My group looks very much like that. But needs more pizza.
