Cool thing my son got!

Travel with your son and that girl to Russia.
Have them marry.
Now, before it's too late and she moves away or something!

Wow, your son is lucky :)

I'd bet money that the girl didn't make it - she found it somewhere - I'm very interested where it originally came from, and how she ended up having it to give away.

I'd guess that the girl likes your son, or she wouldn't think of him.

It looks like the squares are MUCH too big to be used for standard miniatures. I'm not sure what the easiest way to make it a 3E-ready board would be.

Her mother made it waaaaay back when. She also threw in the wooden blocks they used to use to make walls and a bunch of Heritage minis from the mid to late 70s.

The squares are about 4" across, but with a tape measure, any flat surface is 3e ready!

Ask Jer is the girl is cute and/or if she likes him. People don't make things for someone they hate ;)

not until you go pro anyway :)

great board, are the illustrations burned in or drawn on or decoupage?

heh. I am engaged to a gamer, and I have to agree with FilthyIke--best. decision. EVAR! There's nothing like coming home from work, and your fiance (soon to be wife!
:D ) saying "Can we pleeeeeeease play some Diablo II, tonight!? I haven't played all week!" Or, "No, I'd rather go play D&D than go see 'The Hours,' any day!" Huzzah!

Tell your son to get an account, here...looks like we're all dying to give him dating advice! :p

I believe they are copied onto tracing paper, then decoupaged onto the board.

They are really well done. As you can see, there are a lot of illos, and they are very faithful to the 1e MM.

What an awesome, thoughtful gift.

You know you have to do everything in your power to make sure she becomes your future daughter-in-law, right? :)
