Coolest game/product you discovered at Gen Con?

Anyone play Cthulhu 500? The NASCAR game that man was not meant to play? It sounded pretty nifty.

I had to choose between that and Bell Bottomed Badasses from the Mean Streets of Funk.

I think I chose wisely...but Damn! :\

I wasn't at Gen Con, but Jeff Tidball (the designer) is another player in the Welcome to the Halmae campaign, so we were recruited to help playtest. The game is nifty indeed, and a lot of fun. I'm really looking forward to playing it now with the finished cards and illustrations.

When not dispensing Justice, Jeff (busy guy that he is) also worked on Fireborn.

Two incredible finds:

Asylum from Clockworks (180 pages, 20 USD). The entire world has gone insane, pushed over the edge by some freak natural disasters. Its really a great setting, simple rules that use matched pairs of colored marbles (which really fit the setting; "I've lost my marbles."). Its nicely presented in a way that allows both comical Paranoia style quirkiness or dark, grim, Jason Felix style madness.

Iron Kingdoms Character Guide (400 pages, 40 USD). I had purchased the Monsternomicon a while ago. Great little monster book. So I had figured that the core book would probably be decent as well. I was wrong. Now, I'm not a big fan of steampunk, but this is perhaps the best damn RPG book I've ever seen. The artwork is beautiful and the prose is masterful. This is one of the few cases in RPG history where a designer's vision was fully realised. Can't wait for the World Guide now.

I enjoyed both the Game of Thrones d20 game and the Dark Company d20 game. Both have elements to them which I can't wait to steal for my regular D&D game.

Do you mean Black Company? Did they have preview material out for that already? Dang, I'm jonesin' for that book...

For me:

Star Wars Miniature game (but I don't like the idea of "Ultra Rare" figures)

and

Pirates of the Spanish Main (I should have bought this one).

I picked up far too much stuff, but I knew most of the products beforehand. The nicest discovery for me was Bruce Cordell's Hyperconscious, which I knew nothing about. Very nice book, I just wish it was hardcover. I also loved the new WoD/Vampire books, they're very well written and beautifully designed. I just had to pick them up even though I've never played Vampire. :p

Definitely the wire spell templates from Steel Squire. (Can't find their cool square business card. I know I got the spelling wrong. Sorry.) I bought the 10' square one and the fireball-sized one. Incredibly cool because you can move the template around the minis and lay it down, leaving it there for continuing effects without having to move the figs. Used them right after buying them!

I am playtester for the Black Company Campaign Setting.
Under the NDA I can only say, that the Designers capture the flair of the BC Books very well!
Everything is Grim, gritty and very Deadly (as it should be).
They poored lots of love and effort into the book.
I will definitly buy it when it is out in November (GR Shedule).

Can sombody tell me more about Game of Thrones D20?
