I'm really coming down from my buzz on this, no more speed freak thanks to WOTC and all the moaners
When my character was little I would hang out for level 5 or even level 3 with wondrous items for my boots (and a borrowed scroll).
Sure I knew from the start that speeding was dangerous and it probably wasn't going to last. Heck, there was no way it was going to last being so good.
But then came the dependence, not just me, although I was the instigator, but for all of us. Boots, scrolls, potions, weapons, armour, we couldn't get enough. Everyone had it and it was so cool. The first boots were the best, it meant you stood a chance and that you were in the middle league.
Sometimes we would get jumped by these normal guys and sure they would 'slow' us, pfh, slow. Why not haste then slow? I got the DM to fix up his tactics. And we got heaps of cool speed boots!
Anyway, our campaign is 50% faster than WOTC and now they are trying to cage us with this NERF. I don't think I am going to survive coming down, my character will be too weak.
All I want to know is "why, WOTC, did you give me the very best and then take it away?"
(Suntan lotion anyone?)
