3.5 changed the core halfling to a primarily neutral wandering nomad and did not update the god of the halflings to reflect the changes they had made to the halflings themselves.
I think that was a highly questionable turn that WotC made with no really good reason other than they wanted to get further away from their Tolkeinist origin. Why didn't they make the gnomes the wandering gypsy types? That almost makes sense.

Because gnomes are sneaky tricksters. Or inventive tinkers. Or burrow-dwelling isolationists. One more identity change and they will explode!

Typical stilted poll question.
But, I get it anyways. Yes, yes, I know you were all concerned.

Anyways, Lolth wold by my top pick, but ever since they made halflings kender-half-elves, the concept of Yondolla does not work (homebody nomads? Creature comforts in a caravan? Lawful good god for a neutral race?). I'll vote for Lolth next time around.

Eh, that's one identity to me. The only thing the core gnome is missing, IMO, is having the artificial hill/forest gnome division dissolved.

Kord is a musclebound jerkface moron-god. Seems like all his power derives from how he worships himself.

That's what makes him feel like a god to me. That he's some chump that stumbled into cosmic power while wrasslin dragons, dragging home a mountain of gold and chugging mead out of his beer helmet. Zeus, Odin, Thor, etc were all kind of goobers in their own way, tricked by mortals, changing into bulls and getting it on, and going on adventures with other gods. They had personalities, as opposed to just being the god of something, which just seems like another job. Nerull feels more like a guy punching in and out each day on his cosmic time card. Not so much with Kord and Wee Jas.
